In math, we have been learning different ways to manipulate numbers using addition. Here the students are making tens. This is a pre-activity to place value and regrouping.
Second grade did a science experiment to learn about surface tension. First they made water bubbles on wax paper using eye droppers. In the first picture, you see them touching soap to the water bubble and "popping" it by breaking the surface tension. In the second picture, students are making notes in their science jounals about what they observed.
Technology in the classroom is such a wonderful thing. The students read an interactive book about whales together, and watched a minute video of humpbacks breeching.
