May 10-16th

We ended our Native American Unit last Friday with a great last powwow and lots of Native American Projects

We are staying busy with end of the year activities and wrapping up our time as Second Graders
On Monday, we went to the Kansas City Art Institute to see the art display of the children's book The Incredible Paintings of Felix Clousseau

It was really amazing to see what the freshmen at the Art Institute had created. Everything was made out of paper mache, paint, and fabric!

In math we are working on fractions and measurement. Learning the different parts of a fraction, how to write fractions and the difference between denominators and numerators. We also learned if they have to share pizza with their friends, they would rather share 1/6th of a piece instead of 1/12!
Miss Stark's class took the ipads outside to search for symmetry on the playground!

For fun, we have begun a end of school countdown in our classrooms. Starting last Monday, 9 balloons hung from our ceiling, each one containing a special prize/activity for the students. At the end of each day one of the teachers will pop the balloon to release the surprise that will happen the following day! The students have really enjoyed the activities so far, including a gum party, free seat choice, pjs for Haiti, and many more to come! It was been a real fun way to end our last 9 days together.
